Sparking Great Careers Internship Options
1. 8 Week High School Summer Internship
Number of Internships: 1
Value: $4,800
Applicants must be enrolled in grade 12 at an Alberta High School. In addition to satisfactory academic
standing, applicants must also demonstrate the following qualities in their applications: professionalism,
integrity, ethics and leadership. Preference will be given to students who:
• Demonstrate financial need;
• Do not have current ties to the CPA profession (i.e., an immediate family member who is a CPA);
• Demonstrates interest in the CPA profession; or
• Has had to overcome unusual or turbulent circumstances.
2. 16 Week Post-Secondary Summer Internship
Number of Internships: 1
Value: $10,000


Applicants must be enrolled in a Bachelor of Business Administration, Bachelor of Management, or Bachelor of Commerce program with a declared major in accounting at an Alberta post-secondary institution that offers all the prerequisite courses for entrance into the CPA Professional Education Program (CPA PEP). Selection is based on an indicated financial need and satisfactory academic achievement. Preference will be given to students who:
• Do not have current ties to the CPA profession (i.e., an immediate family member who is a CPA);
• Demonstrates interest in the CPA profession;
• Has no prior work experience in accounting; or
• Has had to overcome unusual or turbulent circumstances.


3. Matching Contribution
Number of Internships: 1 or 2
Value: Up to $5,000
The CPA Education Foundation will match the value of a partnership donation to go towards either a High School or Post-Secondary internship. The applicant must fall under the criteria highlighted in the above sections.

 

Adjudication Process
Students would be required to submit their completed applications by January 31st for post-secondary students and May 1st for high school students of each year. Complete application packages include a resume, cover letter, high-school or post-secondary transcripts, information on indicated financial need, and a letter of support. Applications are reviewed by the Foundation Team and short-listed based on the award criteria and applicant’s submissions. The short list will be sent to our internship stakeholder for final selection and hiring. The donor will be responsible for the onboarding and workplace liabilities of each intern.

There are many scholarships available to our students! Please take advantage of these great opportunities to further your educational success. 

 

Rotary Scholarship - Deadline June 30, 2023

The criteria for awarding the scholarships are as follows:
a) A student who has attended High School in Vegreville in his/her final year.
b) The student must have, in all Grade 12 subjects, an average of at least
65%.
c) The Scholarship shall be available to any accredited post secondary
institution in Canada.
d) Financial need will be considered.
e) The candidate has consistently demonstrated leadership, creative ability,
and a commitment to the school and community shall have prime
importance.

The Right Honourable Don Mazankowski Scholarship - Deadline February 28, 2023

Awarded to a student residing for a minimum of two (2) years in the area defined by the boundaries of the municipalities contained within the Old Vegreville Federal Constituency with the addition of the City of Camrose and surrounding municipalities. The student must be enrolled in a post-secondary educational institution and participating in a program that has a minimum of five (5) month duration. Recipient will be selected on the basis of superior academic achievement, demonstrated leadership, and community involvement.
