Our Faith

St. Mary's Catholic School

Welcome to another year at St. Mary's Catholic School; it's a great place to be! I want to especially welcome the grade seven's AND any new students or staff to St. Mary's. Hello to all the veteran students and teachers, I didn't forget you. Hope you ALL have a great year!

Elk Island Schools maintain the vision statement to See Christ in Everyone. I can't think of a more appropriate vision statement for a Catholic school. When we show concern for another, when we are kind and considerate, when we are loving, and when we put other people before our own self, our actions become our faith proclimations. We are putting our faith into action, and St. Paul says in his letter to James, "be doers of the Word, and not merely hearers who decieve themselves." (James 1:22)

It is in these actions that we fulfill the vocation of our baptismal promise and show commitment to our faith by constantly working for and proclaiming God's kingdom. The formation of heart, mind, body and spirit are the core principals of St. Mary's reflected in the vision statement, rooted in the Gospel values of Christ. It is truely a blessing to be part of a catholic school, and St. Mary's as a student or staff member.

Take care, and may God bless all your endeavours this school year!!

" Compete well for the faith. " (1 Tim 1:12a)

Faith In Action

The students at St. Mary's participate in 10 hours of volunteer work as a part of their religion courses.

Quotes from Steve Angriasano

"How we live our life does make a difference. Every decision is either a reflection or rejection of God."

"Which is worse...a man who made a mistake, or a man who could fix it and chose not to?"

"We are called to be holy. Our call is to be a reflection of God by who we are and what we do."

"We know that all things work together for good for those who love God, who are called according to His purpose." Romans 8:28
